The end of day one...

The end of our first day has arrived. As expected, the morning didn't go as well as anticipated. Rob and I both overslept. My alarms went off around 7 this morning with a plan to leave at 8. However, as normal I reluctantly woke to my alarms and instantly turned them off. At 7.50 I woke in a mad panic about having overslept only to be relieved it wasn't quite 8. Managing to drag myself out of bed I was not surprised to find Rob dead to the world in his bed still sound asleep. Once up and about we finished the very last of the packing, filled the car with bits of food Maria didn't want and set about leaving. The first stop was to fill the tank of the some what thirsty car and we hit the road. Rob drove the first leg while we debated important things like where to stop for lunch and the typical Melbourne weather.the original plan was to head to Geelong and out towards the great ocean road. Although we eventually decided to continue with the original plan we did consider a route change due to the drizzling horrid weather. We made Lorne for lunch and stopped in a small place for lunch after trying to get the name of a place previously recommended, however our call was rudely ignored. We hit the road again stopping hear and there as to what took our fancy and how the weather was holding up.

Warnambool was our chosen stop to pick up some needed supplies such as food and alcohol. We managed to find a Coles and Dan Murphys to fulfil each of those requirements respectively and we set on again. Realising that due to a late start we were not going to make our planned first stop we quickly revised it to the nearest campsite we could find. It turned out the new campsite was free - awesome, and it was almost entirely empty, only a single caravan to be seen. However, we arrived too late to pitch tents in daylight, so on went the cars headlights as we franticly tried to sort out our stuff. Once sorted we set about food and a fire. While starting this we noticed to cloudless clear sky with a blanket of crystal clear stars peering down on us. The holiday has truly begun...
